| POPULATIONS Based
on the survey conducted by the Municipal Planning and Development Office in 1997,
Puerto Glaera has a total population of 20,439 - an increase of 4.88% from the
1995 census. This rapid growth in population is partly attributed to the influx
of migrants due to the booming tourism industry. The
population is relatively young with 13,621 people (69.91%) belonging to the age
bracket of 25 years and younger. A
tribe of the Mangyan ethnic group, the Irayas, also form part of the local population. |
